Café en
Seine is once again teaming up with Boutique
Wines for wine pairing dinner on Sunday, January 19th
2020. Cuna de
Reyes is on show and winemaker Alfredo Ciria will be presenting his
range.
The Cuna de Reyes winery was founded in 1999 in the town
of Nájera, in the La Rioja region of Northern Spain, also known as the Kings Court. Paying homage to this
noble town, their wines were named Cuna de Reyes ( birthplace of Kings).
The vineyard harvests its own grapes from La Rioja Alta,
as well as those from contracted vintners in the area. The main grape variety
used is Tempranillo, however also used are Grenache and Mazuelo for red wines
and Viura for whites. In the careful hands of the exuberant winemaker, Alfredo
Ciria, traditional wine making techniques are combined with state of the art
facilities and cutting edge wine making technology to create wines of real
quality and character.
Alfredo oversees almost everything at Cuna de Reyes. He
controls every aspect from fermentation temperature to bottle and label design.
As a grape grower, he loves to spend his time in the field, listening to heavy
metal music on his tractor. Wine making runs deep within his family roots, with
Alfredo’s grandfather being a lifelong farmer and winemaker.
On Sunday, January 19th 2020 Alfredo Ciria will join the
team at Café en Seine for a three course pairing dinner with pairing notes
created by executive chef Stephen Gibson.
Stephen is no stranger to pairing menus and promises something special on the
night. Each course will be matched with a glass of wine from the Cuna de Reyes
range.
