New Zealand Annual Trade Tasting

Trade Event
Date: 30/01/2023 - 30/01/2023 Time: 13:00 - 20:30

After two years of COVID chaos, New Zealand wineries are looking to the future with renewed certainty and confidence. An improved harvest, accessible markets, and consumers demanding more New Zealand wine than ever are all very positive.  Markets continue to display a strong appetite for New Zealand wines. However, in the past year many wineries have been supply-constrained due to their dramatically smaller harvest in 2021. As a result, total New Zealand wine sales have fallen 13% in volume over the past 18 months, with sales in New Zealand down to the lowest level in nearly two decades.

Going into harvest 2022 and nature delivered, despite all the complications imposed by staff shortages and COVID-19. The harvest of 532,000 tonnes will enable severely depleted cellars and supply chains to be re-stocked. Strong export growth are forecast for the year ahead as sales of New Zealand Wine are expected to rebound from their two-decade lows.

The improved supply situation will come as a relief to the key customers of New Zealand Wine, so make sure you mark the date in your diary to taste the 2022 vintage in Dublin.

The trade and press tasting will take place on Monday 30th January, 2023 and will run from 2.00 – 6.00 p.m. preceded by a Masterclass presentation given by John Wilson entitled the Diversity of New Zealand Red Wines will commence at 1.00 p.m.  A self-pour feature highlighting New Zealand Chardonnay and Pinot Noir will also be available.

A consumer tasting following at the same venue from 6.30 - 8.30 p.m.
