Australia and New Zealand Trade Tasting 2025
Wine Australia and New Zealand Winegrowers have teamed up to run their 2025 trade tasting together in Dublin, on Monday 27th January 2025. The first New Zealand Winegrowers’ annual trade tasting took place in Dublin in 1997, and Wine Australia has been active in this market since 1992. This will be the first time both national associations have collaborated for a trade tasting in Ireland.
The event
offers Irish trade customers the opportunity to taste over 300 wines from 23
regions across Australia and New Zealand; from the famous Barossa Valley
and Marlborough to the lesser-known Heathcote and North Canterbury.
The line-up includes regional heroes like Clare Valley
Riesling, McLaren Vale Grenache and Central Otago Pinot Noir, and sparkling
wines from Tasmania and New Zealand’s South Island. Guests can re-visit the classics, including
wines from Tyrrell's Wines, Wakefield Wines and Vasse Felix from Australia, and
Villa Maria, Te Mata Estate and Pegasus Bay from New Zealand.
Alternative grape varieties and innovative, new-wave styles
will be on show, and low alcohol wines from Australia’s Calabria Family Wines
and New Zealand’s Forrest Estate. Surprises to look out for include one of
Australia’s most famous sweet wines, celebrity wines made in New Zealand, and a
chocolate infused fortified wine.
Trade can also explore certified organic wines from
producers such as Angove Family Winemakers, Yalumba, d’Arenberg and Frankland
Estate in Australia, and Neudorf, Huia and Hunky Dory in New Zealand.
The event
is an opportunity for buyers and importers to discover new wines seeking
distribution in Ireland, such as Yarra Valley’s Levantine Hill and Barossa
Valley’s Lambert Estate from Australia and Ant Moore from New Zealand’s
Marlborough, and meet winery representatives including Matt Deller MW (CEO,
Wirra Wirra), Jim Lambert (Owner, Lambert Estate) and Michael O'Hara (Managing
Director, Peerick).
Laura Jewell MW, Wine Australia Regional General Manager UK/EMEA, said Ireland is an important market for Australian and New Zealand wine and highlighted the camaraderie between the producers: “The Aussies and Kiwis are good mates, and we have lots of things in common. Fine wine, great food, stunning scenery, the cool Southern Ocean and a friendly laid-back attitude. The tasting will showcase Australia and New Zealand’s distinctive terroirs, vibrant winemaking communities and thrilling wines.”
